The foundation of H & H Painting Company, Inc. was
created by Remko Bosma in 1932 with the formation of Bosma Painting Co. in Kalamazoo, Mich. Remko immigrated to the United States in 1912 from the Netherlands where he learned the painting trade through extensive schooling and hands-on training.”
“Chester Haan Joins
In the late 1930’s, Remko Bosma was joined in business by Chester Haan, his son-in-law. Chester spent time in the field painting and supervising. During World War II, the company worked extensively with Fort Custer and was on call 24-hours a day to steam clean amphibian tanks that were being tested at Campbell Lake.”
“Chester Haan Assumes Leadership Role
Chester Haan assumed a full-time office role to help manage rapid growth in business in the mid-1950s.”
“Curtis Haan Joins
Curtis Haan, Chester Haan’s son, joined the company full-time in 1961 to help run the business after graduating from Kalamazoo College. He had previously worked for the company painting in the summer while attending high school and then college.

In 1962, Remko Bosma retired, leaving the business to his son-in-law Chester Haan.

In 1971, H & H Painting Company was incorporated as a merit shop by Curtis Haan and his brother Warren.”
“Bosma Painting Company Sells to H&H
In 1982, Bosma Painting Company ceased operations as a union shop and sold its assets to H & H Painting Company under the leadership and presidency of Curtis Haan, who maintained Bosma’s Painting Company client base through the transition.”
“Darcie Johnson Joins H & H
Darcie Johnson joined H & H Painting Company in March 1985 as a computer operator/bookkeeper.”

In 1995 Darcie Johnson was promoted to office manager/CFO of H & H Painting.”
“Chad Sisco Joins H & H
Chad Sisco, who earned a management degree from
Western Michigan University and had extensive knowledge in the paint coatings industry, was hired in April 1998 by Curtis Haan as a project manager to assist with the rapid growth of the company and to begin a business succession plan.”

In 2006 Chad Sisco was appointed as president of H & H.”
“Curtis Haan Retires
Curtis Haan retired on Jan. 1, 2008. Assets of H & H Painting were acquired by Chad Sisco, who is the current owner and president of the company.”
